Dear Zack

It’s no secret to anyone how desperately I want Zack Greinke to remain a Brewer for years to come. I know not everyone agrees with me. Chances of signing him are slim, they say, so we may as well trade him and build for the future. Plus, they argue, paying that much for one player doesn’t make sense for a small market team like the Brewers. Valid points. Rational left-brain statements. I really can’t argue, so I won’t. Ax the Boobirds

As Closer, John Axford experienced more than his fair share of standing ovations. His mere emergence from the bullpen always illicited hearty cheers from Miller Park faithful. But Ax isn’t Closer anymore and it seems the party’s over. When Ax was announced on Wednesday in the 5th inning, I stood and cheered. Some others did too. But we were virtually drowned out by a loud chorus of boos. Not just one or two loud mouths either. I would say a quarter of the crowd swiftly entered Boobird mode when Ax came to the mound. Blog Virgin No More!

033-239x300Well, here it is!  My very first blog. A little scary, but something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I talk, think, and even dream about the Brewers on an almost constant basis during the season, so I guess it’s about time I start sharing my perceptions in a format less constricting than the 140 characters of Twitter!
